There is no spelling test this week (Dec. 19th).

Our class holiday party will be held on Thurs. Dec. 22,2011 from 1- 2PM. Thank you to all of you who have
offered to send in treats for our party. Your generosity is appreciated.

Classwork this week has focused on use of the words" is" and "are", identification of complete sentences as well as sentence fragments, antonyms, similes, memoir writing, vocabulary development ( specifically words utilizing the root words  brev, cap,ord, san, and phil) , division with and without remainders and division of multiplies of 10,100, and1000.  Students have read and discussed numerous stories and articles independently and in small groups. In science students studied and discussed the diets and teeth structure of herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.   

Week of Dec.19th 2011

A new homework packet was sent home with students on Mon. This packet included work involving the correct use of the words" is" and "are", identification of complete sentences as well as sentence fragments, antonyms and division with and without remainders

 

Week of De. 12th 2011

Spelling List 9/Lesson 9- words with ur Spelling Test Fri.

Due to the fact that our copier was not operational today this weeks homework packets were
not able to be copied. For this reason students were asked to write out twenty sentences
with each sentence containing one of this weeks spelling words.

Additionally, students were asked to read for thirty minutes and answer the following question in their
writing journal:

For non- fiction stories tell me about something that you learned while reading that
surprised you.

For fiction stories- Compare yourself to one of the characters in the story you are reading
and tell me how you are similar to or different from that person.

Homework will be due on Friday morning.

Week of Dec. 5th 2011

There will be spelling test this week - words with the  är sound- sight words list 6- pages 34 and 35 in the spelling practice book.

Parent /Teacher/student conferences have been schedule and a reminder slip of the times of each conference was sent home on Monday. Please feel free to contact me if 
there is a need to reschedule your conference or if you did not receive a reminder slip. 

Our Science unit of study "Living Things" is continuing. This weeks focus inherited, learn or acquired traits and behaviors. 

In math we have been to study addition and subtraction expressions using variables, patterns, word problems and continued practice of 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication.    

The Week of Nov. 28,2011

Homework packets were handed out today and are due on Fri. Dec. 2. The packets contained worksheets focusing on the use of pronouns, correct verb tenses, reading comprehension, odd and even numbers and two digit by two digit multiplication.

A spelling test will be held on Fri. List 8-words with the /âr/ sound (like care)   .

Nov. 21, 2011

This week is a short school week because of the Thanksgiving holiday. There are no classes on Thursday and Friday. For this reason there is no spelling test this week or homework packet.
Students have been asked to read for a minimum  of 30 mins. each night.

Pizza Party

On Monday October 31 the boys and girls of Rm 352 will have a pizza party compliments of Ms. DeLuca and Mrs. Ellis.

Remember 10/21/11 The Shatekon PTA will host our 5th Annual Monster Mash from 6:00-8:30pm

Pictures from our Field Ttrip to Brookside

Week of Oct.10,2011

Our trip to Brookside Museum was a great success. Stay tune for pictures.
There is no spelling test this week as it was a shorten week due to the holiday and our field trip.

Week of Oct 3,2011

Students had their pictures taken today 10/4/11. If you did not send in the picture form packet and would like to order pictures you can send it in tomorrow Oct. 5th. Also picture retake will be Nov. 5th.

Our field trip to Brookside Museum is scheduled for Oct. 12th. Please send back the signed permission slip giving us permission to take your child as soon as possible. If you need another form just let me know. The cost of the trip is $9.00- again just let me know if you are in need of finical assistance as we are able to make the necessarily arrangements to ensure that every student is able to attend.

Also today students brought home a slip with a suggested time for us to meet for parent/teacher/student conferences. Please let me know if the suggested time is problematic and we will find another time that works better.

Homework for the week 9/26/11

Hello everyone- This weeks homework packet was sent home with the boys and girls today. The packet consisted of six pages. The weeks topics include action verbs, mapping skills, addition properties,subtraction rules and estimating sums and differences.

Last weeks packet was handed back and reviewed with the students this morning.
