Homework for the Week of Dec. 10th, 2012
Students were given a homework packet today which is due on Friday
The packet included worksheets that focus on editing, subjects and predicates, and reading comprehension
The spelling words this week are the same words listed last week. Students were given extra time to study the definitions of the words. Math homework will be given each night and will focus on prime and composite numbers, expressions and function tables.


Homework the Week of Dec. 3rd, 2012
Monday
Students were asked to write their spelling words 5x each, as well as complete a reading comprehension worksheet ( different students have different articles based on their reading levels) and too complete a math worksheet pertaining to factors, prime and composite numbers. Finally, students were also asked to read for twenty minutes.
Oct. 9, 2012

  Math homework for tonight pg. 81 (in math book) problems #1-6. Since the copy machine was down students were not given a homework packet for this week today. Also due to the fact that we had Mon. off and have a field trip scheduled for Wed. there will be no spelling test this week. Students have been asked to read for 20 minutes each night as usual however.  









Sept. 27, 2012

Homework packets are due tomorrow. Since the week was short Friday's
spelling test will focus on the spelling of the words only. Next week’s test
will include the definitions as well. The following ten words are
this week’s words: fact, calculate, remainder, basis, paragraph, scale,
magnets, debate, native and adapt.






May 10, 2012
This week the homework focus is reading. Students are being asked to read for 1 hour each night. Students are also expected to complete their "Think mark" worksheet and to turn that in on Friday. The "Think mark" worksheet asks students to identify and learn the meaning of the new words they find as they read. Students are also asked to write about any connections they become aware of as they read. If students are reading non-fiction books they are ask to record interesting facts they encounter as they read. If they are reading fiction students are expected to write a short summary of each chapter.

April 2, 2012

This weeks  homework packet was handed out today and is due on Thurs. The focus of this weeks homework packet is science as to review for the upcoming NYS science test that all fourth grades will take in May.
There will be a spelling test on Thurs. of this week. This weeks words are list 21 and on found on page 73 of the students Spelling Practice Book.

On Wed. there will be a quiz on measurement and capacity( students were given a review sheet last week when they were told of the quiz).


March 26, 2012
For this weeks homework assignment students were asked to spend 1 hour reading and writing a response using a worksheet we refer to as think-marks. If students are reading a non-fiction text they are expected to list facts they learn or find interesting on the think-mark. If students are reading a fiction text they are asked to identify the main characters and to summarize each chapter they read.

With regard to spelling there will be a test next week on Thurs. The new words are list 20 on this blog's main page. They are words using the Suffixes -ion, -ness, -able, -less, and -ful. 

Next Wed. students will have a quiz on capacity, weight, and length facts. They were given a review  sheet today to help them study for the quiz. 


   



March 19, 2012
Homework packets were sent home on Monday and this week are due on Thurs. March 22 because students have Fri. of this week off. This week packet included reading comprehension activities and math activities involving fractions.




Week of March 12, 2012
This week's homework packet was sent home today and is due on Friday March 16th. The packet included three reading comprehension activities and one math activity involving equivalent fractions.




Week of March 5, 2012
This week's homework packet was sent home today and is due on Friday March 9th. There will be a spelling test on Friday of this week as well. The new spelling words are from sight list 18.


Week of Feb. 6, 2012
This week's homework packet was sent home today, Mon. Feb. 6. It included reading comprehension activities as well as an activities that focused on the irregular form of the verb "be" and "cause and effect". This packet is due on Fri. 2/10/12.

Student's have also be asked to read a minimum of 20 minutes each evening, to study for this Friday's spelling test, as well as the multiplication test on the 7's times table.


Week of Oct. 11,2011
This week's homework packet was handed out on Tues.and include both addition and subtraction, as well as graphing, mapping and classification. Last weeks homework packet was handed back on Wed.- Students were asked to make corrections. Students were also given back last week's spelling test as well as their Chapter 2 math tests.



Week of Oct. 3rd
This week homework packet was home on Mon. Homework will again focus on action verbs, nouns, addition, subtraction (including subtraction across zeros), rounding and estimation of sums and differences, along with mapping.
Last weeks homework was reviewed and students were given an opportunity to make some of their corrections. Please check to see if your student needs to finish making corrections to their packet.

There is a spelling test on Friday. This test will focus on words using a long or short e sound.

Week of Sep. 19, 2011
This weeks homework packet was sent on on Mon. and included eight worksheets pertaining to place value through hundred thousands, comparing numbers, rounding numbers, predicates,subjects and adjectives


The first spelling test will be given on Fri. Sept. 23- New words are located on page 10 in Spelling Practice Book
